Wild Times on Easter: Just the Two of Us {My Life}

Jason and I were so thrilled to get to spend some quality time with each other after many long work weeks.  Here's a sneak peek into our awesome day...these are rare moments when I'm actually in front of the camera!

I love feeding the giraffes!

Why I Love Him - Reason #1: He's fun to hang around.
(The passersby really enjoyed this spectacle.)

Why I Love Him - Reason #2: He conquers beasts for my protection

Why I Love Him - Reason #3: He monkeys around...

...just like me.

And my favorite:

Wild Times on Easter: Feathers {My Life}

This year marked our third annual trip to the zoo on Easter - our family tradition.  The weather was perfect, the animals were out and about, and this time I brought my long lens with me to capture the animals up close and personal for some amazing shots.  We had an fun time feeding the giraffes, stingrays and lorikeets.  It was the first full day we've spent together in a long time - mostly due to my working up to 80 hours a week with my fast-growing photography business - and every moment was perfect.

Here are some of my feathered friends of the day...

Little Miss A. {Portraits}

I had the pleasure of meeting Miss A and her wonderful parents this evening on the beach at Jekyll Island.  Little did I know we would also have the pleasure (?) of also meeting hundreds of hungry sand gnats, too!  We finally found a quiet little spot with a cool breeze that kept our pesky friends at bay, just in time to capture some gorgeous shots of the Little Miss in the dunes during sunset.

Mom is 7 months pregnant with Miss A's little brother!

Thank you, Mom and Dad, for sticking it out with me this evening!  Despite a tough battle against the sand gnats, Miss A's photos still turned out wonderful.  (Pretty darn easy to do with such a beautiful subject!)

Website Revamp

Check it out: Jennifer Leigh Photography's official website has been revamped with a new homepage layout, new logo and new photos in the portfolio.

After 8 hours of editing (still new at this website design stuff) and a mere 5 internet server crashes later, I'm pretty proud of the finished product!  Let me a comment  - I'd love to get your feedback.

Battles on the Beach {Portraits}

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing the Battle family.  Mom and I had been rescheduling the outdoor session since December due to bad weather.  On Sunday, the sun was out, the warm breeze kept the gnats at bay, and it was just a gorgeous day to be on the beach at Jekyll Island.  We got the portraits out of the way right off the bat because the kids wanted to play in the water and sand.  Everyone - including me - had a great time splashing around - it was so much fun capturing it all.  This session went so well, and it was definitely worth the wait...see for yourself!

Thank you to the Battle family for your willingness to have fun!  I'm looking forward to showing you your final images this weekend.

Rubber Cement Easter Eggs?!

I love the holidays and make it a point to celebrate and decorate for each one.  Every year we dye Easter eggs on Easter weekend.  This year, we tried a little something different - we drizzled rubber cement on the eggs before dropping them into the dye for a very cool looking result!

 Rubber cement eggs?!  Wha-wha-what?!

Cementing my first egg.
(Pay no attention to the Christmas jammie pants and Michael Jackson tee)

This is serious business, folks.

Step 1: Drizzle cement on egg

Step 2: Speed up the dying process with a hair dryer
(About as exciting as watching paint dry, can you tell by Jason's posture/look on his face? lol)

Step 3: Dip egg in dye

 The finished product!

After the eggs had dried, it was time for the annual egg cracking contest, my German side of the family's tradition of almost 100 years!  I am proud to say that after losing to Jason the past two years, my purple egg and I became the 2010 Georgia Egg Cracking Champions!  Yippee!
